Grip Change

I have changed my grip again.

I must admit I have experiment with all three grip types over the years;  interlocking, overlapping and 10 finger.

I was watching Martin Hall last evening on his program, The School of Golf. The program itself was about speciality shots. During the program he gave one of his side tips that was especially of interest to me.

He remarked that one of the ways to increase distance was to utilize the 10 finger grip because of the second lever effect.

I tried it at the range yesterday and gained at least 7-10 years on average per club. I was hitting 9,8 and 7 irons. I look forward to trying the grip on my hybrids and woods this weekend to see if this holds true.

I had used this grip before so the changeover from the interlocking was not very hard. In addition, since I have chronic problems with my left wrist I am hoping this grip and swing result in less stress to the wrist.

Jim, great commentary ! After my short game clinic lesson Thursday I was able to successfully bridge the gap between the lesson and the reality of the course and now feel that I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Time will tell.
